On December 12th 2009 Art Space 712 invited the art community
to an open house and exhibition entitled “A Holiday Celebration of
Form and Color.” The assembled work was brought together from
the Art Space 712 collection and African, Oceanic, and the Americas,
with a focus on local and international contemporary and art.
The exhibition featured the work of Jose Bedia, Theophilus Brown,
Lin Fischer, Jack Freeman, Matt Gonzalez, Wifredo Lam, Felix
Macnee, Hugo Marin, Roberto Matta, Ursula O'Farrell, Gustavo
Ramos Rivera, Diane Roby, Alejandro Santiago, Tom Schultz,
with live entertainment by Danjuma Adamu and Onola, a world beat group that set a festive tone for the event.

A recent review by Geoff Smith with images by DeWitt Chang in Art Business.com described Art Space 712 as “a very impressive architectural space. I really like this show a lot - great everything!! Unfortunately I have to leave to cover more openings. For their next opening, I will try not to plan in advance for anything else. My personal favorites are the Alejandro Santiago art (reminiscent of Basquiat), the work by Gustavo Ramos Rivera, Jack Freeman's art and Ursula O'Farrell's figurative work. The very extensive collection of African sculpture is also very exciting. The whole show is highly recommended.”

Currently, Art Space 712 is formulating the next set of projects tentatively scheduled for the Spring and Fall of 2010. Art Space 712 is envisioned not as a commercial enterprise, but rather our intention is to help build a community where artists and collectors can meet, and people can see and support the work being done by the artists around us.
